OUR HISTORY AND LOCATION
The Law Offices of Anne B. Darring is located in Old Downtown Texas City in The Simpson Building.
The Simpson Building was built in 1954 by Attorney, James P. Simpson to house his fledgling law practice. Since then it has been expanded and enhanced several times over.

Jim Simpson, (whose professional life is recorded in his Auto-Biography, “Flak Bait” published in 2007) was a staple in the Galveston Legal community for years over 50 years.
Aside from his legal practice, Mr. Simpson worked with the state and federal government to shut down illegal gambling in Galveston. Jim was also a major player in laying the groundwork for the establishment of College of the Mainland.
During the years prior to our purchase of the building, several prominent attorneys, judges and politicians worked or practiced from that location.
Owen Barker, Charles Hancock, Harry Green, Bruce Fort, Roy Engelke, Barney McCoy, Gregg Allen, Baby Schwartz, Don Morgan, Susan Criss, Russell Burwell, Greg Enos, Charles Jordan, Tim Beeton, Sam Finnegan, Joe Jaworski, Gregg Simpson, Simone Simpson, Salvatore Faus and Jack Ewing are some of the scores of attorneys that once called the location their professional home.
The building survived hurricanes Carla, Alicia and Ike as well as other minor storms in its 55 year history.
When the firm purchased 619 8th Avenue North, they named the building for it's original owner. The Simpson Building was dedicated in 2003.
The Attorneys and Staff at the Law Offices of Anne B. Darring are honored to practice law in a location where so many reputable and prominent professionals have worked.
